In commercial sailing, it is mandatory that the mast and rigging be inspected and thus certified every 2.5 years. After approval of the inspection, the vessel is given a Certificate of Rigging which is a mandatory certificate on board.
Rigging book a part of maintenance
From 1 January 2024, the Dutch government will require that vessels sailing under a certificate of approval, which have a Proof of Rigging, also have to keep a rigging book.
